Unlike Pakistan's standard Business Visa, which depends on an invitation letter, the Business Investor Visa is earned through something more concrete: money actually put into the country, whether as property or as capital in a registered business. If you've invested — or are planning to invest — in Pakistan and want residency-linked travel access to match, here's exactly how the Investor Visa category works through NADRA's official portal, visa.nadra.gov.pk.

What is the Business Investor Visa?
The Business Investor Visa is a Pakistan visa category granted to foreign nationals who have made a qualifying financial investment in the country — either through real estate ownership or through capital placed in a Pakistani company or partnership. It's processed entirely online through the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS), alongside every other Pakistan visa category.
Investor Visa vs. standard Business Visa
If you've read our guide to the standard Pakistan Business Visa, the difference here is straightforward: the standard Business Visa is built around an invitation from a Pakistani company or trade body, while the Investor Visa is built around your own capital already placed in Pakistan. There's no E-Business Invitation Letter requirement for the Investor Visa — instead, your investment itself is the qualifying document, auto-verified against records held by SECP and FBR.
Investment thresholds — how you qualify
To qualify for the Investor Visa, you need to meet one of the following two investment thresholds:
- Real estate: ownership of property in Pakistan worth more than USD 100,000, auto-verified against SECP/FBR records within POVS.
- Business capital: investment in a company or partnership registered in Pakistan of not less than USD 50,000, auto-verified against SECP records within POVS.
Because these figures are auto-verified against government records rather than manually reviewed, keeping your property or company registration properly documented with SECP/FBR in advance will make your application move considerably faster.
Visa categories and validity
The Investor Visa comes in four distinct duration tiers, each with multiple entries permitted:
- Business Investor Short Term (1 Year Entry): valid 1 year, multiple entries
- Business Investor Short Term (3 Year Entry): valid 3 years, multiple entries
- Business Investor Long Term (Entry): valid 5 years, multiple entries
- Business Investor Extension: valid 2 years, multiple entries
As with other categories, final issuance and duration granted remain at the discretion of the Government of Pakistan.
Who is eligible — BVL and Non-BVL countries
Citizens of both Business Visa List (BVL) and Non-BVL countries can apply for the Investor Visa once they've met the investment requirement above — this category isn't restricted to BVL nationals the way some business categories are. You can check which list your country falls under here:
New (Entry) vs. Extension applications
- Entry: for applicants who do not currently hold a valid Pakistan visa.
- Extension: for applicants who already hold a valid Pakistan visa and are currently residing in Pakistan.
If your extension requires any in-person verification step, it's worth reviewing our guide to NADRA's Local Offices inside Pakistan to understand how that part of the process works.
Required documents
- Passport
- Photograph
- Proof of investment — either real estate ownership documentation worth over USD 100,000, or proof of company/partnership investment of at least USD 50,000
- If applying from a third country (not your home country): mandatory proof of legal residence there, uploaded under the "Other" supporting document type
- For extensions: proof of your valid Pakistani visa and its entry stamp, also uploaded under the "Other" document type
Converting a short-term visa to long-term investor status
Applicants who initially entered on a short-term Business or Investor visa can have that visa converted into a long-term Investor Visa as an extension, provided they submit the appropriate supporting documentation confirming their ongoing qualifying investment. This gives investors a practical path to upgrade their status once their investment in Pakistan is established, rather than needing to restart the process from a fresh entry application.
Frequently asked questions
What's the minimum investment needed for a Pakistan Investor Visa?
Either real estate worth more than USD 100,000, or capital invested in a Pakistani company or partnership of at least USD 50,000.
How is my investment verified?
Automatically, through records held by SECP and FBR that are checked directly within the POVS system — there's no separate manual proof-submission process for the investment amount itself, though supporting documents are still required.
How long is a Business Investor Visa valid?
Depending on the category: 1 year, 3 years, or 5 years for new entries (multiple entries throughout), and 2 years for an extension.
Do I need a Business Invitation Letter for the Investor Visa?
No. The E-Business Invitation Letter is required for the standard Business Visa category, not the Investor Visa, since your investment itself serves as the qualifying basis here.
Can citizens of any country apply for the Investor Visa?
Yes — both BVL and Non-BVL country citizens are eligible, as long as the investment threshold is met.
Can a short-term Investor Visa become a long-term one?
Yes, subsequent short-term Business/Investor visas can be converted into a long-term Investor Visa through the extension process, with appropriate supporting documentation.
