The Government of Punjab has introduced the Chief Minister's Honhaar Undergraduate Scholarship Program to support bright, deserving students who cannot afford the cost of higher education. What Is the CM Honhaar Scholarship Program?

The Honhaar Scholarship is one of the largest undergraduate scholarship initiatives ever launched in Punjab, covering 70 selected disciplines across 50 public sector universities, 13 medical and dental colleges, and 359 graduate colleges throughout the province. The program aims to award a total of 50,000 scholarships to meritorious and deserving students.

The scholarship has been rolled out in phases:

Phase I: 30,000 scholarships for students enrolled in the 1st semester of BS programs at public universities, graduate colleges, selected federal chartered/private universities, and 1st-year medical students.
Phase II: 20,000 scholarships for students enrolled from the 3rd to 8th semester of BS programs, and the 2nd to 5th year of MBBS/BDS programs.
Phase III: An additional 5,000 scholarships extended to students from other provinces.

Scholarship Coverage

100% Tuition Fees are covered for the entire duration of the degree program.
Applicants are required to provide personal, educational, and socio-economic details as part of the application.

Eligibility Criteria

According to the official Punjab government portal, applicants must meet the following conditions:

Must hold domicile of the respective province.
Open to both male and female students — no gender restriction.
Family monthly income must be less than Rs. 300,000, supported by an affidavit on E-Stamp paper.
Must be enrolled in one of the selected disciplines at a public university/college, in the 1st or 2nd semester (Academic Session 2024–25), or enrolled in 2024 for public medical/dental colleges and universities.
Scholarships are awarded strictly on a merit basis.

Merit Criteria (Minimum Marks Required)

Public Sector Universities/Colleges: At least 70% marks in FSc/Intermediate for Science students, and at least 65% for Arts and Social Sciences students.
Public Sector Medical and Dental Colleges: At least 80% marks in FSc/Intermediate.
Final merit calculation: Matriculation result carries 30% weightage, and Intermediate result carries 70% weightage.
