What is the HEC e-Portal?
The HEC e-Portal login page carries the heading "Higher Education Commission, Pakistan" and describes HEC's aim of helping higher learning institutes drive socio-economic development. The page is a gateway: you sign in with an account, and the services you see afterwards depend on your account. The login form has two fields: User ID and Password. The page shows that your User ID can be in one of these formats:
- Your CNIC number (13 digits, entered as the example on the page shows)
- firstname.lastname style username
- firstname123 style username
- Open the official HEC e-Portal login page and check that the address in your browser starts with eportal.hec.gov.pk.
- Type your User ID in the format used when you created the account.
- Enter your Password carefully, then submit the form.
- Wait for the page to finish processing. The portal shows a "Please wait" message while it works.
Browser tip: the page says it is best viewed on Internet Explorer 9 or newer, Firefox or Chrome. If something looks broken, try the latest Chrome or Firefox.
How to Register a New Account
No account yet? The login page has a "Don't have an account yet, Register" link that opens the HEC e-Portal registration page. Keep your CNIC and a working email or phone number ready, and fill every field exactly as it appears on your documents. Forgot Your Password?
Use the Forgot Password link on the login page, which leads to the official password reset page. Follow the on-screen instructions. After resetting, choose a new password that is long, unique and not used on other websites.
Stay Safe Online
- Only enter your details on eportal.hec.gov.pk. Fake lookalike pages exist for many portals.
- HEC and this blog will never ask you to share your password over WhatsApp, SMS or comments.
- Do not log in from shared computers, and always sign out when finished.
- Never save your password in a public document or send it to anyone.
